iMapp Bucharest 2018

CONCURS INTERNAȚIONAL DE VIDEO MAPPING

CALL FOR ENTRIES

CONTEXT

Concursul de video mapping iMapp Bucharest 2018 este organizat de către Primăria Municipiului București, prin creart – Centrul de Creație, Artă și Tradiție al Municipiului București – ca Producător, Maxin10sity – ca Art Curator și 360 Revolution – ca Furnizor Tehnic, denumiți în continuare în mod colectiv Organizatorul.

Invităm artiștii vizuali internaționali să creeze animații video cu o durată de 3 minute pe tema de mai jos, adaptate fațadei Palatului Parlamentului, București, în armonie cu arhitectura și însoțite de muzică. Animațiile vor fi proiectate pe 22 septembrie 2018, în fața unui juriu și a publicului.

Un secol de modernitate în România.

iMapp Bucharest 2018 sărbătorește cei 100 de ani de România. Unul dintre cele mai puternice simboluri ale istoriei românești și ale Marii Uniuni este steagul nostru național. Să ne imaginăm Palatul Parlamentului iluminat cu o simfonie din ALBASTRU, GALBEN și ROȘU!

Fiecare spectacol trebuie să fie o lucrare de artă conceptuală, bazată pe aceste culori, ca elemente de video mapping. Referințele la istoria României (evenimente și personalități relevante pentru trecutul nostru) sunt binevenite, dar încurajăm integrarea artistică în locul unei abordări documentare. Conținutul vizual poate fi conceptual sau figurativ, realist sau simbolic. Se poate potrivi o abordare abstractă a artistului sau poate fi o parte a unui puzzle narativ.

Cu iMapp Bucharest sărbătorim viața artistică și culturală a orașului nostru. În timp ce credem în libertatea exprimării artistice, nu acceptăm nici un fel de declarație politică sau activism social și suntem împotriva oricărui conținut ofensiv adăugat spectacolelor. În plus, deoarece anul 2018 este o aniversare importantă pentru România, recomandarea noastră este să evităm orice referire la momente controversate din istoria noastră.

Înscrierile

În primul rând, este necesară o scurtă descriere despre artistul însuși (maximum 100 de cuvinte) și formularul de înscriere completat. În plus, vă rugăm să ne transmiteți datele de corespondență atât ale persoanei responsabile pentru creație cât și ale persoanei de contact.

În al doilea rând, despre lucrare, sunt necesare următoarele detalii (trimiteți-le într-un fișier zip(artistname_iMapp2018.zip) toate împreună):

• titlul lucrării
• scurtă descriere (maximum 250 de cuvinte)
• imagini (maxim 3 fotografii, 1920 x 1080, denumite: artistname_1 / 2 / 3_iMapp2018.jpg)
• referințe (maximum 3 link-uri YouTube sau Vimeo)

Odata cu depunerea, participanții confirmă faptul că dispun de tehnologia adecvată pentru producerea animației în conformitate cu cerințele din „Informații tehnice” de mai jos.

Înscrierea trebuie trimisă la următoarea adresă de e-mail: call@imapp.ro, inclusiv formularul de înscriere completat și lucrările vizuale.

(Vă rugăm să evidențiați subiectul e-mailurilor dvs. încă din titlu, de exemplu, înscriere sau solicitare de informații)

Data limită de depunere: 2 iulie 2018, 23:59 CET (Lucrările expediate după termenul limită vor fi descalificate imediat.)

Cei 10 participanți aleși vor fi anunțați până la data de 6 iulie 2018.

Informații tehnice

• Resolution: 7680 x 2000
• Frame rate: 25 fps
• Format fișier: HAP.mov (Encoding HAP)
• Sound separate file WAV 48Khz uncompressed

2D raster map este disponibil tuturor participanților aici.

Modelul 3D al fațadei va fi trimis doar celor 10 participanți aleși.

Conținutul lucrărilor artistice va fi proiectat pe fațada Palatului Parlamentului din București folosind 64 video proiectoare laser Panasonic PT-RZ31K 30.000 ANSI Lumens 3 chip DLP®, controlate prin 5 sisteme server Pandora Box QUAD de la Coolux.

Conformitatea tehnică cu specificațiile furnizate este obligatorie.

Selecția participanților

Maxin10sity este responsabil de desfășurarea concursului în calitate de curator și împreună cu juriul ediției anterioare vor decide care sunt cei 10 participanți aleși.

Toate înscrierile vor fi confirmate prin e-mail!

Criteriile de selecție:

• Calitatea lucrărilor artistice anterioare (70%)
• Conceptul creativ, vizual (30%)

Eligibilitate și taxe

Înscrierea este gratuită. Ca support financiar pentru producție, fiecare dintre cei 10 participanți aleși va primi 10.000 €.

Cheltuieli de transport si cazare

Toți cei 10 artiști aleși pot fi reprezentați la spectacolul live de către două persoane cărora le vor fi asigurate cazarea și transportul.

Juriul

În data de 22 septembrie 2018, cei 10 participanți vor fi jurizați de către un juriu specializat, alcătuit din experți distinși și reprezentanți importanți ai culturii vizuale internaționale (din domeniul artelor vizuale, comunicare, mass-media, film etc.)

Componenta juriului va fi anunțată în curând pe site-ul web (www.imapp.ro).

Premiile

Două premii:

• Premiul publicului (se va vota live prin sms ): 5.000 €
• Premiul juriului: Prize of 5.000 €

Restricții

Competiția este deschisă tuturor persoanelor fizice și juridice, indiferent de profesie, vârstă, sex, cetățenie sau domiciliu; artiștii pot intra în competiție fie individual, fie ca echipă. Persoanele cu vârsta sub 18 ani trebuie să obțină consimțământul prealabil al tutorelui legal pentru participare. La intrarea în competiție ca echipă, o persoană trebuie să fie numită persoană de contact și va fi singura responsabilă de comunicarea cu organizatorii. O persoană poate intra în competiție doar într-o singură echipă. Competiția este deschisă atât profesioniștilor, cât și amatorilor. Participanții pot intra în concurs doar cu propria lor lucrare originală. În cazul în care cineva intră în competiție cu altă lucrare decât cea proprie, intrarea va fi respinsă și persoana va fi descalificată imediat. În cazul în care va fi descoperit după concurs, participantul va fi lipsit de onorurile sale, iar premiul va trebui returnat. La completarea formularului de înscriere, participanții declară că munca depusă de ei este propria lor proprietate intelectuală și garantează că nu încalcă drepturile de proprietate intelectuală ale oricărei terțe părți. Lucrarea depusă trebuie să îndeplinească cerințele stabilite în secțiunea „Informații tehnice”. Este strict interzis să încorporați publicitate reală sau fictivă în lucrare, fie în mod deschis, fie într-un mod ascuns, adică este interzis să includeți orice produs, marcă, nume, logo sau imagine recunoscută sau text etc. (cu excepția inscripția pe fațada clădirii) și / sau orice marcă sau simbol care sugerează a căror lucrare este.

Intrările care nu respectă aceste cerințe vor fi respinse automat.

Copyright

Toate intrările validate vor rămâne proprietatea participanților. Prin prezentarea lucrărilor, participanții își dau consimțământul pentru ca acea lucrare sau părți din ea să fie folosită gratuit pentru activități de publicitate și promovare. Exemple de activități promoționale pot include comunicate de presă, activități de relații publice pentru competiție, promovare pe internet sau articole, toate gratuite. Organizatorul nu este răspunzător pentru niciun fel de taxe rezultate din posibile încălcări ale drepturilor de autor care rezultă din conținutul animațiilor transmise de participanți. În plus, participanții trebuie să permită proiectarea lucrarilor lor la concursul iMapp în următorii ani.

Precondiâie

Prin depunerea unei înscrieri pentru această competiție, fiecare concurent este de acord cu toți termenii specificați în acest brief.

INTERNATIONAL VIDEOMAPPING COMPETITION

Outline of the competition

The iMapp Bucharest 2018 Video mapping Competition is jointly organized by the Bucharest City Hall through creart – Center for Creation, Art and Tradition of the Municipality of Bucharest – as the Producer, Maxin10sity Ltd. – as the Art Curator and 360 Revolution Srl – as Technical Provider henceforth collectively referred to as the Organizer.

We are inviting international visual artists to create 3 minute long video mapped animations to the bellow theme adapted to the façade of Palace of Parliament, Bucharest, Romania harmonizing with the architecture and accompanied by music. The animations will be projected on 22^nd of September 2018, in front of a jury and a live audience.

BLUE. YELLOW. RED.

A Century of Modern Romania

iMapp Bucharest 2018 celebrates 100 years of Romania.

One of the most powerful symbols of Romanian history and of The Great Union is our National Flag. Let’s imagine the Palace of Parliament, lavishly illuminated with a symphony of BLUE, YELLOW and RED!

Each show would be a conceptual work of art, based on these colors, as elements of video mapping. References to the history of Romania (events and important figures relevant for our past) are welcomed, but we encourage artistic integration, instead of a documentary approach. The visual content can be conceptual or figurative, realistic or symbolic. It can fit a very abstract approach of the artist or it can be a part of a narrative puzzle.

With iMapp Bucharest, we celebrate the artistic and cultural life of our city. While we believe in the freedom of artistic expression, we do not condone any kind of political statement or social activism and we strongly advise against any offensive content of the shows. Furthermore, as 2018 is an important anniversary for Romania, our suggestion is to avoid any references to controversial moments from our history

Submission

First of all, about the artist himself a short description (100 words max.), and the filled application form are required. Moreover, we kindly ask you to give us contact both to the person responsible for the work and a contact person.

Secondly, about the work, the following details are necessary (please send them in a zip file (artistname_iMapp2018.zip) all together):

• title of artwork
• short description (maximum 250 words)
• visual images (maximum 3 pieces of still pictures, 1920 x 1080, named like: artistname_1/2/3_iMapp2018.jpg)
• references (maximum 3 youtube or vimeo links)

With the submission the participants are confirming that the appropriate technique is available for producing the animation according to the requirements in the ”Technical Information” below.

The submission should be sent to the following email address: call@imapp.ro including the filled application form and the visual/s.

Deadline of submission: 2^nd of July 2018, 23:59 CET

(The artworks sent after the deadline will be disqualified immediately.)

The final 10 participants will be notified until 6^th of July 2018.

3D model of the façade will be sent to the chosen participants.

The content of your animations will be projected onto the façade of the Bucharest Parliament, using 64pcs of Panasonic PT-RZ31K 30.000 ANSI Lumens 3 chip DLP® Laser projectors, controlled by five Pandora Box QUAD Server systems from Coolux.

Technical compliance with the provided specifications is mandatory.

Selection of participants for the iMapp Bucharest 2018

Maxin10sity is in charge of the competition as an Art Curator and together with last year’s Jury, they will decide who will be the 10 chosen participants.

All entries will be confirmed by e-mail!

Selection aspects:

• quality of the previous references (70%)
• creative concept, visual (30%)

Eligibility and entry fee

Entry is free of charge. As a financial support for the production each of the ten chosen participants will receive € 10.000.

Travel and accommodation

All 10 chosen artists can be represented at the live show by two persons whom the accommodation and transportation will be arranged.

Jury

On the 22^nd of September 2018 the 10 participants will be juried by a professional panel of judges, who are all distinguished experts and prominent representatives of international visual culture (from the field of arts, visual communications, media, film etc.)

The jury component will be announced on the website (www.imapp.ro) soon.

Prizes

Two prizes:

• Audience Award (the audience will vote live by SMS): Prize of 5.000 €
• Jury Award: Prize of 5.000 €

Restrictions

The competition is open to all natural and legal persons regardless of their profession, age, sex, citizenship or residence; people can enter the competition either individually or as a team.

Persons under the age of 18 must obtain the prior consent of their legal guardian to enter the competition.

When entering the competition as a team, one person should be appointed as contact person who will solely be responsible for communication with the organizers.

One person can enter the competition in one team only.

The competition is open to both professionals and amateurs.

Entrants can only enter the competition with their own, original work. In case someone enters the competition with work other than that of their own, the entry will be rejected and the person will be disqualified immediately. Should it be discovered only after the competition, the entrant will be stripped of his/her honors and the prize will have to be returned. Upon completing the registration form, entrants declare that the work submitted by them is their own intellectual property, and warrant that it does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.

The work submitted has to meet the requirements as set forth in the ”Technical information” section.

It is strictly forbidden to embed any real or fiction advertisements in the work either overtly or in a covert way, i.e. it is forbidden to feature any product, brand, name, logo or recognizable image, or text etc. (with the exception of the inscription on the façade of the building), and/or any mark or symbol suggesting whose work it is.

Entries that do not meet these requirements will be rejected automatically.

Copyright

All validated entries will remain the property of the participants. By submitting their work, participants give their consent for said work or parts of it to be used at no charge for advertising and promotional activities. Examples of promotional activities may include press releases, public relations activities for the competition, internet – related promotion, or articles, all free of charge. The Organizer is not liable for any fees resulting from potential copyright infringements that result from the content of the animations submitted by the participants. Moreover, the participants should allow their work to be projected at the iMapp contest next years.

Preconditions

By submitting an entry for this competition, each contestant agrees to all the terms specified in this brief.
